My Story
When I was five years old my mother and I attended a musical instrument exhibit. I looked at instruments all day, but there was something about the violin that drew me in. I started taking classical lessons shortly after that and really fell in love with the instrument. I was about 10 when jazz started calling to me, too. It became abundantly clear to me that music was what I was meant to do. I was always listening to something or practicing constantly, which has gotten more intense as I've matured. I am lucky to be able to study and learn from great musicians and mentors, and even more, to be supported by them. The sense of community I've experienced through music--especially the jazz community--is very important to me, and has inspired me to convey the same feeling by playing for others. As I come to the end of my program at NYU, I’m looking forward to many more years of creating and performing music--hopefully with some of my heroes--and to work towards my goal of fostering community through my music.
